Welcome to London Board Riders!
London Board Riders is a friendly social board sports community based in London. We're into surfing, surfskating, wakesurfing/boarding, kitesurfing, snowboarding and skiing, and occasionally other activities such as hiking, triathlons and Tough Mudder. We organise monthly trips in the UK (many in London, Devon & Cornwall) and overseas. We also hold monthly social evenings in London.
Everything is FREE, there are no fees. Community members coordinate rides and accommodation with each other in order to keep the cost down and find mates to do activities with. Accommodation is usually booked on Booking.com or Airbnb, and people with cars offer rides. Come join the fun!
Follow our events through Facebook and meetup.
Code of conduct
We are a diverse and inclusive group; We welcome members regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or sexuality, we just want to go board riding with like minded people. Participation in the group is subject to abiding by our code of conduct:
-
Safety of members is our primary concern. We have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying and harassment.
Members are encouraged to reach out to an admin to report any concerns, and any member found to be harassing other members
will be removed from the group.
-
We are a fun open group and banter is acceptable on chats, however, please do not cross the lines and offend people. And if you
do cause offense, please apologise!
-
If you need to cancel a trip for any reason (even medical), you need to find somebody else to take the spot in your accommodation/ride
so the others are not left to pay your share.
- If the admins feel you behaviour is completely out of line, you may be removed right away. If this happens, we will usually send you a warning before removing you, through private messaging.
Accommodation
To keep costs down we encourage people to stay together, this means sharing houses, bedrooms and occasionally beds. We are not paid organisers so keep in mind this is done on a best effort basis. People can join group houses or get their own private accommodation. Use WhatsApp groups to work out details and sharing options with other group members.
One person will book a place and the others are expected to pay them right away. If not the spot may be open for others to take. If you need to cancel for any reason, you need to find a replacement to take your spot, or lose the money you paid.
Rides
A number of group members have cars and will offer seats to other members. You can also team up and rent cars. When accepting a ride from another member, please remember:
-
Car drivers are not taxis, do not expect a door to door service! Coordinate on WhatsApp to find the most
convenient rides.
-
Turn up at your agreed pick-up point on time, remember that drivers typically have 4 hours+ driving time and do not
want to be driving well into the night.
- Pay your share of petrol and other costs promptly.
